SMCC Board

I have been an active climber throughout Montana and the western U.S. for over 30 years.  In that time, I have seen the popularity of climbing increase dramatically.  Even in our backwater state of Montana, new climbers and climbing areas are popping up everywhere.  Unfortunately, more climbers bring more impact to the areas we use.  Landowners and land managers are beginning to notice.  Let's all work together to preserve access to the areas we love, if not for ourselves, but for future generations.  Join SMCC today!

Susan has been instrumental in planning and organizing several SMCC functions and events.

Joe grew up climbing around Big Timber.

Kevin has climbed actively across SW Montana for  two decades, establishing routes  near Livingston, Helena, Big Timber, and Butte.  Pebbles to multi-pitch wilderness walls,  Hutch continues to expand Montana's climbing opportunities.

Kris has been active as a photographer, climber and skier, and a North Face athlete.

Aaron has been active with youth groups and climbing for nearly a decade, and was instrumental in establishing the first climbers club at MSU.

Meg moved to Bozeman in 1987 and has had the good fortune of climbing locally since then.  She opened Spire Climbing Center in Dec. 2004 and is presently co-owner/co-manager of the gym.

Hannah has been active in climbing, establishing the SMCC, and getting our information in order!

Jim moved to Montana in the early 1990's and began climbing in northwest and southwest Montana then. He has climbed in Glacier National Park, the Bitterroot, the Beartooths, the Absarokas, and Hyalite Canyon, finding obscure first ascents in each.

More recently, he has been working on using www.MontanaIce.com to create online communities of climbers, and raising his son, Devin, so that he can climb before walking.
